New to Church?

Welcome! At some point all of us would have been new to a church or just church in general. Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about your visit to the Church.
Some key information about the church...
We meet at:
St Mary's Parish Church
Church Lane
Linton
Cambridge CB21 4JX
You can see a map on our
contact us page.
There is very limited parking available on the site. Being a good neighbour means that we limit ourselves to using a turning circle by the church gate to drop people off. There is a public car park next to the health centre in Coles Lane, less than five minutes walk away.
Details of our normal service times can be seen
here.
You will receive a warm welcome, particularly from our Sidespersons who meet you at the door. They will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. You will be offered a hymn book and service sheet. You don't need to take them, many don't because they rely on the screen content, but some find it easier to follow the book and service sheet. The service follows a printed order which can also be seen on the big screen. There will be singing with opportunity for church members to pray, hear a passage read from the bible and listen to a message preached on it. Most Sundays will have Holy Communion as part of the service. We finish with notices and then coffee and a chat in the pavilion just outside. This provides plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.
We have all been children and many of us have had children and we all enjoy having them present. Children generally stay with their parents during the service. When you come in they will be offered activity packs which are related to the theme of the service as well as a hymn book and service sheet. If they want, they can do the activity pack during the service and take the days sheets home with them at the end. There is a space on the far side of the church they can use which has books and other activities. In addition there are particular services in the afternoon at 2.30pm on certain Sundays for children and their parents. Wild Church is on the 1st Sunday of the Month and
Messy Church on the 3rd Sunday of the month. For more information about what happens in the children's work please visit the relevant groups under church life.
No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes. We do!
Not at all!
You are free to simply observe or participate as much as you feel comfortable with. If you're not sure what is likely to be going on at any particular point sit in the middle of the church so that you can follow what others around you are doing.
We have more information for you specifically if you…
